One Good Thing

Today’s One Good Thing is brought to you by Press Coffee Lounge in uptown Shelby. Press is still new, having only opened in the last couple of months. Located at the back of the Wine Collective, Press is NOT your average cup of Joe, so please don’t go in expecting it to be what it isn’t. Press loves coffee – the roasting of it, the brewing of it, and the serving of it – and feels that it doesn’t need to be rushed. I had my very first Kyoto cold brew there and Tab* took the time to carefully (yet energetically!) explain the process to me and make sure I enjoyed the result. I’ve included a video to give you an idea of the Kyoto (also called Yama) process – that coffee is created drop by drop and is out of this world!

You won’t be hurried out of here – it’s a lounge in every sense of the word. (Beautifully designed, too!) Go in, ask some questions, sample a few, then make up your mind. Sip and talk. Press is a find and I intend to do what I can to spread the word and make it NOT be the “best kept secret” in Shelby.

See you there!

*Full disclosure – I knew Tab yearsandyears ago when she was in her mid-teens and was a student of mine through the Early College program. I taught her both public speaking and film. She grew up, enlisted in the military, served her country proudly, and now is embarking on a career in culinary arts. She’s amazing and she’s working with people who see her worth. It was fantastic to see the young woman she has become.
