One Good Thing

I’m beginning to settle into my new work schedule, which includes a half-day on Friday.

That extra time, especially when coupled with not needing to routinely bring work home, is just lovely. For a very long time, I’ve wanted my work life to be a part of my life; not the whole thing. Deep down, I think all my efforts at “going French” – from buying better quality clothes and preparing more fresh food to walking more and incorporating slower methods of doing things (like using fountain pens and seeking out vinyl records) into my life –  have been about building a life I wanted to savor and enjoy with my loved ones.

With this switch away from my previous profession, I feel like I’ve taken a huge stride into living the way I really want to.

Tonight, I used two recipes I’ve been tinkering with and created a Mediterranean-style dinner of spicy meatballs with tzatziki sauce and plenty of vegetables and then I baked a French yogurt cake with a streusel topping. Saturday morning coffee cake, baby!

I’m really looking forward to some time to just enjoy the beginning of summer.

I hope you take some time for that, too.
