Day 5 of the Everyday Elegance experiment was a bit different. While I still tried to raise my “outfit game” (seriously – dark wash jeans, a crisp white blouse with a scarf and bright pink loafers doesn’t take much effort to pull together and made me feel like I knew what I was doing), my efforts were more at home than at work today.
While I don’t usually think of sleep as “elegant,” there’s no denying that good sleep is an affordable luxury. I know that and I know that “sleep hygiene” is a real thing. Further, I know that lack of good sleep is the root of many daytime problems, including serious health problems.
Like many people, my big problem with sleep hygiene stems from screen time – even now, I’m writing this just before I go to bed, and we know that’s not good. So, as much as I enjoy Kindle books, I’m trying to move back to paper ones for my before-bed reading.
Elegance today was freshly-laundered all-cotton sheets, a treasure hunt through skincare samples (use those! Don’t be like me and wind up with spoiled samples that you “saved” for the right occasion! I did that once – never again. You’re worth it, and slather on the best of what you have!), a hot bath with tea, Christopher Moore’s newest madcap novel, and Edith Piaf reminding me of how glorious life in pink can be. It really is a lovely way to wind down at the end of the week.
Now let me turn off screens . . . and let’s see what Day 6 has in store!

One Good Thing
