One Good Thing

Sometimes, it’s all about just insisting that your day start right.

I accidentally left Sally Mustang’s ragtop down overnight – luckily, it didn’t rain. So, since it was already down, I left it that way for my drive into work. It was just a touch chilly – I need to remember to toss in a jacket – but the weather gave me a great chance to exercise free will.

Yep, top down, windows up, heater on.

And Snoop Dogg’s “Affirmation Song” to start me off. Maybe it’s meant for little kids, but there’s some solid wisdom in there for the taller among us, as well.

Once at work, I ran my fingers through my disheveled hair and got on with my day. Which included taking a 20-minute walk in the sunshine and noticing a French flag flying from a random second-story window. I thought the old Coca-Cola wall advertisement made a striking image and I wouldn’t have noticed it if I hadn’t insisted on taking a walk in the middle of my day.

There’s plenty to do – work is busy, there was a meeting after work, then there was a massive grocery run to make. But all those things were going to be there no matter what, so it made perfect sense to just stop for a few minutes and look around. As Snoop might say, “I can control my own happiness.”

Bow Wow Wow, indeed.
