Divas, between several large work projects and the upcoming holidays (which tend to be both wonderful and stressful), I was in need of more than a single Good Thing, so I put a fence around this weekend. The timing was good, since my Beloved had a long work day on Saturday.
While I made time for a long walk in the sunshine, most of the time was spent at home just puttering. I fussed with houseplants, did some Christmas wishlist gathering, watched an old classic I’d been meaning to see (1957’s Funny Face, which is so lushly designed that I’ll forgive the absurdity of trying to make Fred Astaire a romantic partner for the 30-year-younger Audrey Hepburn), baked a cake, edged out a puzzle, and a few other things.
It sounds like a lot – and maybe it was – but the key to the Diva lifestyle is to build in these breaks frequently enough that you’re not waiting until you’re so scorched that all you want to do on a day off is just sleep or scroll on your phone.
Have the things you enjoy close at hand, dear Divas, and mark off a day for yourself. Once you experience it, I suspect you’ll make it a priority.
