One Good Thing

With a bit of nudging and a touch of actual cajoling, I’m committed to taking part in The 100 Day Art Project this year. Accepting that things are busy right now, I decided on my own rules – and I encourage you to join me. Yes, the plan is to make art every single day for 100 days. But what that art IS is your decision. I’m going to focus on small watercolor pieces – things that are postcard-sized (4 x 6 inches) that use a limited color palette and can be done in less than 15 minutes of painting (but I need to build in drying time as well). During the weekends, I hope to do at least one larger, more complicated piece.

It’s not about creating masterpieces every day; it’s about SHOWING UP every day.

And you can do that, too. It’s a great way to pick up new skills, polish something you already do, or try something that you once-upon-a-time enjoyed. And it doesn’t have to be painting! Click here for some cool suggestions. Maybe you’ll decide to sketch something, or sketch the same thing every day (100 teacups!). Maybe you’ll dust off your guitar. Or write a stanza of poetry about your dog. Or commit to making a new dish. It can be anything, really.

I’d love to see you join on this. And if you didn’t start today, who cares? Commit to working with your creative self – if 100 days sounds like too much, pick another number. But make it a priority!

You’ll be amazed at what you can do.
