This is the first update post of the second half of my 100 Day Art Project and I have to say that I see some real growth in this sort of consistent work. By that, I don’t just mean getting “better” (whatever that means), but getting more courageous about the type of projects I take on. I really see progress in my willingness to try things that I thought were beyond my reach. Sure, not everything turns out polished and pretty and perfect, but I’ve done it. I’ve tried different techniques – let me tell you, glazing is hard, lettering is difficult, blank space is scary, and dry brushing is a crapshoot – and I have an even greater appreciation for just how hard this stuff can be, as well as how relaxing it can be. That’s contradictory; I know. Welcome to creativity, which is perhaps the ultimate conundrum of the human experience.
Keep it up – and if you haven’t started, but think you’d like to, that’s the sign you’re looking for. Start small and quietly if you want; start large and loud if you want. Just start.
