Between my Beloved going to his annual work conference and being short-handed at work, it was a crazy week of intense work, followed by an extra shift at home.
I usually plan all sorts of things for that week – I’ll finish the last season of Hacks and watch Sandman and paint fall things, and decorate the house with harvest/Halloween things and make healthy vegetarian meals and exercise every night!
Yeah – pretty much none of that happened.
And that’s okay!
I did spend a quiet evening puttering around the house with decorations. One night, I finally watched Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom with friends and pizza. I ran into a different friend – who I hadn’t seen since the whole Pyrite University disaster – while treating myself to Thai food and a cucumber roll (chopsticks and tangy pickled ginger – yum!). And I did my share at work to keep us puttering along for the public.
I have to be reminded that not every single moment has to be crammed with — stuff. Quite frankly, I need more “porch with coffee” time, doing nothing more arduous than watching the clouds and listening to birdsong. Or maybe just taking time to look around as we run our errands.
I imagine we all do, Divas.
