It’s been quite a while since I held an online sale or was part of a craft fair and I realized that I was holding on to too many paintings – like switching out your closet when the seasons turn, it’s time for me to send some of my watercolor children out into the world! (How else will I restock with quality paper, paints, and brushes?)
Divas, you know I enjoy my painting. It is not my vocation – like many of us in our Second Act, I work in a full-time capacity, but I long ago learned the importance of having a regular creative outlet. While I don’t paint every day, I paint most days. The subject varies – sometimes, I like whimsical octopi, sometimes I like moody forests. Sometimes I have 20 minutes, sometimes I have half a day. I work with different techniques and workshops and sometimes my efforts fall squarely into the “well, good thing it’s just paper” camp. And that’s okay. The truly important lesson here for all Divas is the need to make time to explore your own creativity, to take something that was a blank space and fill it with art, whether that is poetry, music, needlecraft, dance, woodworking, or something totally different. It’s not something you just fit in when you have time. You get in the habit of prioritizing your own well-being and lo, unto you the time is given.
If you are interested in seeing the last few months of my painting, just click here or on the “River of Cream Watercolors” link on the home page. (On the mobile version of the site, click the two lines on the upper right and you’ll see the links.) Under that, you’ll see two parts – the “Fall $40 Sale” and the “Beyond the $40 Sale.” Between the two you have about 30 paintings to view and yes, the $40 Sale is just that – all of those original paintings are $40 each. (It’s a steal!) Even the larger ones are inexpensive so please – go take a look, say nice things, and let me know if any tickle your fancy.
Thank you, Divas!
