Today’s One Good Thing was inspired by grief and remembrance.
Yesterday was my Mom’s birthday – she would have turned 89. Those who loved her lost Mary Cook Koontz suddenly in early April of 2022 and there remains a dull ache from her absence.
However, she left us a legacy bright enough to light your way through a cave.
Her ashes rest in a columbarium situated in a lush garden at the church my siblings and I grew up in. I had trimmed the ends of the flowers in the kitchen in the Fellowship Hall my sister helped remodel and stopped by the restroom for a moment before going out to the garden to sit for a bit.
That’s when I noticed the sign on the mirror.
One Good Thing.
