Today’s One Good Thing involves a visit to my sister’s favorite nail salon.
I enjoy having my nails done. I can give myself a basic mani-pedi, but I don’t do it often and I’m not sure if I’ve had a professional one since last fall. I know I’ve repeatedly planned one starting with the winter holidays, but nothing ever worked out.
So yesterday I sat next to my sister in a salon chair and we had our toes done – she favors a pinky-red shade called Madam President while I went with a beachy, cantaloupe color. We followed up with dip powder French tip manicures – hers was classic, while my base nail color was a pale pink with just a touch of shimmer. It’s just beautiful.
A nail salon is a fascinating place — women you have never met chat lightly with each other and more men are in there than one might think. In fact, my Dad goes once a month, as a pedicure is an excellent way to make sure his feet are healthy.
And enjoying spending time with my sister – our relationship has had severe downs at various times of our lives – was just lovely.
