One Good Thing

Today’s One Good Thing involves the grumpy fellow at the top of the post. That dapper tuxedo cat is Jazz, one of our quartet of felines. Cats have a (mostly deserved) reputation for being aloof, but ours don’t like it much when we go away, and I’ve been gone from Home Base since Monday.

The trip away to Dad’s was fine and the drive home was as uneventful as a trip involving driving through perpetual interstate construction can be, but I knew that once I stopped moving, I was going to be DONE for the day, so I quickly scritched the Furry Overlords, then unpacked the suitcase, and started the first load of laundry.

It was important to Jazz that he expressed his feelings regarding my absence, so he jumped into the empty suitcase to glare at me. Later, he deigned to lay on top of my head when I stretched out and, eventually, he forgave me for being away, thus leaving him with only one human to tend to his needs – a pitifully inadequate number, to his way of thinking.

It’s good to be back home.
