Advent 2 – Campaigning!

It’s Day 2 of the “Advent Adventure” and I didn’t quite manage to cover everything today. My “task” on the Reverse Advent Calendar was to “let someone in front of you in line” and I just didn’t stand in any lines today – I’ll work on that one tomorrow,

I took a few minutes first thing this morning to listen to a Shine meditation (this one dealt with seasonal self-care, with the primary idea being that what we need changes with the seasons – an interesting concept for someone like me who can get caught up in rigidly adhering to a set routine) and I made a little progress with the French lesson that had me flummoxed (or déconcertée, I think it is).  After work, I dug into a few of the Christmas boxes that we got down from the attic yesterday and now have a rather lovely mantelpiece,* the Moravian star is hung on the front porch, and the library of Christmas books is out. That was enough – I could feel myself starting to get a little wound up – just one more thing! was beginning to take over my thought process, so I knew I needed to stop for the day.

Exercise today was a few minutes on a stationary bike – not a bad thing to do, but I’d like to check out my actual bike and get a few miles under me that way. Just pedaling without going anywhere isn’t my cup of ginger tea and I only made it about ten minutes.

I was challenged today to “support a charity, cause, or campaign you really care about.” Well, I supported a cause I really believe in by re-investing my small Kiva.org donation last night and today, I shared a column I’d written about my continuing efforts with self-care for a group who has done a lot of good for a lot of people. You can click here if you’d like to read it.

Peanut butter has been added to the Advent food box.

*By the way, the quote on the mantel is from Samuel Johnson – “To be happy at home is the ultimate result of all ambition.”
